Miami flips 4-star 2024 DB Antione Jackson from Georgia
Miami’s red-hot run on the recruiting trail continued Saturday with a speedster from South Florida.
Fort Lauderdale Dillard 2024 four-star defensive back Antione Jackson (No. 83 in the 247Sports Composite) announced his pledge to play for the Hurricanes via Twitter.
Jackson (6-foot-1, 180) is the first 2024 commitment for coach Mario Cristobal’s staff. He starred at Miami’s Legends Camp on June 25.
He had been committed to defending national champion Georgia since March but flipped to the Hurricanes in a move most close to him expected because of his ties to the school. Jackson’s uncle, Dwayne Wimbley, a 6-9 forward, played basketball at Miami in the late 1990s, and his cousin, Shakima Wimbley, was a track star at the school from 2014-17.
“Physically he’s the best corner in his class,” Dillard coach Tyler Tate said. “He’s a 4.4 kid with long arms, and he just turned 16. We had a game where I didn’t start him last year because he missed a couple days of practice with doctors’ appointments and whatnot. He didn’t cry about it. He came off the bench and caught two interceptions and took one to the house. That’s the only time he didn’t start since his freshman year.”
Longtime instate recruiting guru Larry Blustein told The Athletic that Jackson is “special” and “a program definer.”
