Week 15 live updates, analysis
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — The New York Jets are back in action this afternoon as they face the Miami Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium.
The Jets have already been mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, for a franchise record-tying 11 straight seasons, but there’s still plenty for them to play for as they try to figure out what pieces fit as they try to take a step back toward respectability in 2022.
This place has not been kind to the Jets in recent years. They haven’t won in Miami since 2015. Will things be different this year?
Keep it here all afternoon for live updates and analysis as rookie quarterback Zach Wilson and the Jets try to get back in the win column after losing two straight.
The Dolphins have won five straight, including a win over the Jets at MetLife Stadium a month ago. But things will look a little bit different today with a few key Dolphins players out for COVID reasons: starting running back Philip Lindsay and wide receiver Jaylen Waddle are still on the COVID list and starting safety Jevon Holland, who came off the list Saturday, is listed as inactive.
The Jets are dealing with their own issues, but only have one key contributor who won’t play because he’s on the COVID list: defensive tackle Foley Fatukasi. But they are dealing with a key injury: starting left tackle George Fant (knee) is inactive which means backup Conor McDermott is likely to start at left tackle.
The good news for the Jets: they’re getting several key players back on the field. Running back Michael Carter returns after missing the past three games with an ankle injury, cornerback Michael Carter II is back after missing last week with a concussion. Running back Tevin Coleman (concussion) is also back in the lineup, along with defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins (knee).
Here are the inactive players for the Jets: LT George Fant, RB La’Mical Perine, RB Ty Johnson, CB Isaiah Dunn, DL Shaq Lawson and DL Tim Ward.
