New York Socialite Lists Home on Florida’s Exclusive Fisher Island for $26 Million

One of just a handful of single-family homes on Miami’s exclusive Fisher Island has come on the market asking $26 million.

The three-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom property is owned by New York-based socialite Elizabeth Hazan, according to records. Ms. Hazan purchased the property for $5.1 million in 2007, per records on PropertyShark.

The Florida home boasts 25-foot ceilings through the living room as well as ample entertaining space and large windows to make the most of the home’s view, according to marketing materials.

“All the beautiful cruise ships and yachts pass by on the water, and it is magnificent,” the Canadian-born Ms. Hazan told Mansion Global. “The safety and security on the island is top of the line—and the privacy of owning a single-family home there is incredible.”

Known as a haven for billionaires and celebrities, the 216-acre Fisher Island is members-only and one of the wealthiest ZIP codes in the U.S., with amenities including private beaches, a beach club, a golf course, a marina, a spa, tennis courts and restaurants. In 2020, Canadian Billionaire Lawrence Stroll sold a penthouse previously owned by Oprah Winfrey on the island for $20 million, Mansion Global reported at the time.

“Fisher Island is one of the world’s top private island communities for a reason,” said Jeff Miller of ONE Sotheby’s International Realty, who has the listing. “The island is surrounded by water with no bridges, so you can only arrive by boat—that is, if the island security grants you access.”

“There are only nine residential homes on the island and is the only one that is move-in ready,” Mr. Miller added. “I anticipate a high level of interest.”

The property boasts significant outdoor space including a private in-ground pool and spa, a spacious patio, and a landscaped yard and garden that overlook the sixth and seventh hole of the island’s golf links.

“I’m selling because I purchased a different house off market,” Ms. Hazan said. “But whoever the buyer of this home is will be incredibly fortunate.”

The property was previously listed for $15 million in late 2015 before being removed from the market a year later, according to records.

In 2013, Ms. Hazan was sued by the company that sold her the home for allegedly defaulting on the home’s mortgage, the New York Daily News reported at the time. A court entered a default judgment against Ms. Hazan for $1.6 million in damages, according to documents on Casetext.

Ms. Hazan, who also had a public legal battle with late comedian Joan Rivers, declined to comment on the lawsuit.
