NBA GAMETHREAD: Miami Heat (0-3) seek first win of season, host Dallas Mavericks (1-2) – Hot Hot Hoops
The Miami Heat return to Kaseya Center tonight to host the Dallas Mavericks, still searching for their first victory of the 2026-27 NBA season.
After opening the season with three consecutive losses to the Minnesota Timberwolves, Detroit Pistons and Charlotte Hornets, Miami finds itself facing some early adversity despite the excitement surrounding its revamped roster.
Giannis Antetokounmpo has already shown flashes of the dominant player Heat fans expected, but the team has struggled to establish consistency on both ends of the floor. Chemistry remains a work in progress, and Erik Spoelstra is still searching for the right combinations to get Miami playing up to its potential.
Saturday’s 115-110 road loss to Charlotte was another frustrating result, leaving the Heat winless heading into tonight’s matchup.
The Mavericks arrive with a 1-2 record and some injury concerns of their own. Dallas will be without several rotation players, including Dereck Lively II, Naji Marshall and former Heat forward Caleb Martin. However, Cooper Flagg has been upgraded to probable after dealing with a shoulder injury, while Kyrie Irving is expected to return to the lineup.
With Bam Adebayo and Antetokounmpo anchoring Miami’s frontcourt, tonight presents an opportunity for the Heat to establish a stronger defensive presence, improve their execution and finally get into the win column.
It’s still early, but an 0-4 start is something Miami would certainly like to avoid.
