Deputies search Christopher Columbus, St. Brendan campuses after report of potentially armed person – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, FLA. (WSVN) – Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies responded Wednesday morning to Christopher Columbus High School after a report of a potentially armed person on campus, officials said.

Deputies and the agency’s Priority Response Team are currently conducting a “thorough search” of Columbus and nearby St. Brendan Catholic Church and its school campuses.

The Archdiocese of Miami said St. Brendan’s church and schools were placed on lockdown because of the situation at Columbus.

St. Brendan Elementary’s principal emailed families to say students and staff were OK, and a teacher inside the school told 7News that everyone was safe.
