Rain pushes back start of Miami Open play

WPLG

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Rain delayed the start of main-draw play at the Miami Open on Wednesday, pushing back scheduled matches across multiple courts at Hard Rock Stadium, tournament officials said.

Matches on the Grandstand and Butch Buchholz courts, along with Court 1, were pushed back as conditions impacted the start times. Organizers said updates would be provided as they become available.

The tournament’s main draw begins Wednesday and runs through March 29 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, with daily coverage on the Tennis Channel starting at 2 p.m. Eastern.

Carlos Alcaraz, the No.1 ranked player in the world, enters the men’s field with a 38-4 hard-court record over the past year, while No. 2 Jannik Sinner arrives following his Indian Wells title, seeking to complete the “Sunshine Double.”

Defending champion Jakub Mensik is also in the field.

Novak Djokovic withdrew from the tournament prior to its start because of an arm injury, making him the only top-20 player absent from the draw.

The 96-player field features the top 32 seeds receiving first-round byes, setting up potential marquee matchups throughout the two-week event.

Late rounds multi-session packages and parking passes were available on Monday afternoon. For more information about the tournament’s schedule and tickets, visit this page.
