Ricciardi, Elmer Named Miami Athletes of the Week
Female Winner: Angelina Ricciardi
Angelina Ricciardi earned an .93 ERA and collected three wins over three appearances. She pitched one complete game, and only allowed two runs and nine hits over those three appearances. Ricciardi collected five total strikeouts and kept the opponents at a 0.256 batting average. She opened the week, allowing two runs, while throwing a complete game in a win over EKU. She then threw 3.2 scoreless innings against NKU and another 4.1 scoreless versus IU-Indy. Ricciardi is from Tampa, Fla., she is studying Political Science in the College of Arts and Science.
Male Winner: Eian Elmer
Elmer helped the Red and White close out the regular season with an undefeated record (31-0, 18-0 MAC), as Miami defeated Toledo at home and Ohio on the road. In 37.0 minutes per game, Elmer averaged 20.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.5 blocks, 1.0 steals and 0.5 assists. He shot 13-of-26 (50%) from the floor and went 6-of-14 (42.9%) from the three-point line. The junior wing began the week by totaling eight points, four rebounds, four blocks, one assist and one steal in a 74-72 win over the Rockets Tuesday evening. He went on to record a career-best 32 points, 12 rebounds, one block and one steal against the Bobcats Friday night in a 110-108 OT victory. Elmer is a junior from Covington, Ky., he is studying Sport Management in the College of Education, Health and Society.
