MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Local 10 News is searching for answers about a Florida-registered boat that was allegedly involved in a fatal shooting at sea in Cuba.

The Cuban government released a statement saying four people died and six were injured after Cuban officials intercepted a Florida-registered speedboat at sea off the coast of the Villa Clara province.

Cuban officials reported the boat’s registration number was FL7726SH.

A Local 10 News team and other journalists in search of answers responded to a house on Wednesday afternoon in Miami Lakes.

Witnesses in the area told Local 10 News that they saw FBI special agents respond to the house at a dead end on Northwest 89 Place, near 149 Terrace in southwestern Miami Lakes.

U.S. Reps. Carlos Gimenez and Debbie Wasserman Schultz were among the lawmakers who demanded the U.S. investigate the Cuban government’s allegations.

U.S. State Secretary Marco Rubio later said during a news conference that the U.S. was conducting an independent investigation.

Local 10 News has a pending inquiry with FBI Miami. Local 10 News Assignment Editor Wilson Louis and Reporter Samiar Nefzi contributed to this report.
