GameCenter final: UND 4, Miami 3, OT – Grand Forks Herald

GRAND FORKS — UND rallied from a two-goal deficit in the third period to beat Miami 4-3 in overtime. Abram Wiebe won it with a highlight reel play, beating two Miami players and scoring his fourth goal of the season to complete the series sweep. Jake Livanavage tied it with an extra attacker in the third period.

First star: Abram Wiebe, UND, game-winning goal, assist.
Second star: Jake Livanavage, UND, game-tying goal.
Third star: E.J. Emery, UND, goal.

UND 1, Miami 0 — E.J. Emery 3 (Sam Laurila, Dylan James) 15:52. UND gets rewarded for an excellent shift, keeping several pucks alive in the offensive zone. James kicks a puck back to Laurila at the point. He spots Emery with room in the right circle. Emery collects the pass, walks it a couple of steps and rips a shot through a Ben Strinden screen for his third goal of the season.

UND 1, Miami 1 — Doug Grimes 8 (Maximilion Helgeson, Ryder Thompson) 1:22. After 81 minutes, 22 seconds, Miami finally breaks through on UND goalie Jan Špunar this weekend. Thompson launches a point shot that hits traffic on the inside of the left circle. As players fight for the puck, Grimes takes a whack at it, and it beats Špunar high to tie the game.

Miami 2, UND 1 — Kocha Delic 10 (Michael Quinn, Ilia Morozov) 3:14. After the long goal drought, Miami suddenly scores twice in under two minutes. Quinn launches a point shot through a Delic screen and Špunar never sees it. The puck hits his pad and Delic is standing right there to sweep in the rebound.

Miami 3, UND 1 — Ryan Smith 9 13:24. After an icing, UND tries to get a puck out of the zone, but Smith forces a turnover and holds it in. He walks it a few steps into the right circle, toe drags it and rifles it past Špunar’s blocker.

Miami 3, UND 2 — Mac Swanson 6 (Abram Wiebe) :29. UND strikes right away in the third as Wiebe pulls a puck off the halfwall and fires a backhand across the ice to Swanson in the slot. The sophomore one-times it for his sixth goal of the season.

Miami 3, UND 3 — Jake Livanavage 5 (Ellis Rickwood, Keaton Verhoeff) 18:09 (pp) (ex). UND pulls the goalie for a 6-on-4 advantage with Bradley Walker in the box for Miami. Verhoeff launches a shot from the point that hits traffic in front. Rickwood takes a swing at it too, but the rebound kicks out to Livanavage in the left circle. The UND junior wires it past Miami goalie Matteo Drobac to tie it.

UND 4, Miami 3 — Abram Wiebe 4 (Cole Reschny, Dylan James) 1:35. Wiebe has the puck in the neutral zone, he puts a spin move on Miami’s Ilia Morozov, then beats Ryan Smith at the blue line. He skates up the right side, makes a move to the middle and flips a shot short side on Drobac to win it.
