Deputy Named Rookie of the Week Again

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— The National Collegiate Hockey Conference announced its weekly awards presented by KJ Branding today, and Miami freshman forward David Deputy was named the NCHC Rookie of the Week for the fourth time. Deputy joins Red Savage as the only RedHawks ever to win this award four times in one season.

Deputy scored twice Friday, including the game-winner in overtime, to lift Miami Hockey to a 3-2 victory over No. 4 Western Michigan. Deputy, the game’s First Star, helped Miami defeat a top-five team for the first time since 2022. Deputy added a shorthanded goal Saturday in the series finale vs. the Broncos, lighting the lamp for the third game in a row and earning Third Star honors.

Deputy and No. 20 Miami travel to No. 3 North Dakota this weekend. Puck drop on Friday, Feb. 13 is set for 8:07 p.m. ET in Grand Forks, N.D.
