Appelwick Named to NCBWA Preseason All-America Fourth Team
DALLAS, Texas – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) has named Miami first-baseman Evan Appelwick to the 2026 Division I Preseason All-America Fourth Team. The All-America teams highlight the top players on the diamond for national championship contenders ahead of the NCAA’s opening day on Friday, Feb. 13.
Last season, Appelwick started for the RedHawks in all 58 games and hit .322 with an OPS of 1.131. Most notably, he tied the program record set in 2004 by Mike Ferris for home runs in a single season with 21 and sits at 38 career home runs with the RedHawks, just six below the program’s all-time career record. The senior also posted 65 runs and 69 hits, including 10 doubles and a triple. He batted in 74 runs for the RedHawks, another program single-season record, and reached first base via walk a team-leading 53 times, all while fielding .995. Appelwick was selected First Team All-MAC in 2025 for his accolades.
