Man booked into Miami-Dade jail after woman shot in northwest Miami-Dade

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A man was booked into Miami-Dade County’s Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center Tuesday, nearly a week after he allegedly shot a woman multiple times, records show.

Terry Shelton, 27, was taken into custody in Broward County but was transferred to Miami-Dade Tuesday to face charges of attempted murder, shooting/throwing a deadly missile, discharging a firearm from a vehicle and discharging a firearm outdoors.

According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, the shooting was reported Jan. 14 in the 200 block of Northwest 82nd Terrace.

Deputies arrived at the scene and found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

A Miami-Dade Fire Rescue unit then transported her to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in stable condition.

Sky 10 was above the scene last week as what appeared to be blood was smeared on the front steps of a home.

A bullet appeared to have also pierced a metal window shutter.

Penn Matt lives across the street and told Local 10 News that he didn’t hear the shooting but saw the aftermath.

“All of a sudden, I walked to the door and I said, ‘What the hell is going on?’” he said.

Miami-Dade investigators confirmed the suspect fled the scene and was caught in North Lauderdale.

Sky 10 flew over an apartment complex there as it appeared an unmarked police car rammed into at least one vehicle.

A motive for the shooting has not yet been disclosed.
