Ja Morant’s $3 Million Miami Real Estate Move Sparks Trade Speculation

Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant is among the top players with immense trade buzz with the Feb. 5 deadline approaching.

Morant sits squarely at the center of trade rumors, and at this point, it feels like only a matter of time. The 26-year-old and the Grizzlies seem to be moving in separate directions — and a recent report only makes that clearer.

Lucas Finton and Damichael Cole of the Memphis Commercial Appeal shared that Morant purchased a home in Miami, according to Miami-Dade County property records.

The records show that Morant purchased the home in Miami two days before Christmas, Dec. 23, 2025.

Finton and Cole added that the home Morant purchased is approximately 20 minutes away from the home arena of the Miami Heat, Kaseya Center. Morant bought the home more than two weeks since sources confirmed that the Grizzlies were considering trading the two-time All-Star.

A recent report by Kelly Iko of Yahoo Sports stated that the Heat could make a move for the former No. 2 overall pick.

“Miami has quickly emerged as an attractive option to Morant and his camp in recent days,” Iko said.

“The Heat have historically been regarded as one of the NBA’s most detail-oriented and structured organizations, a major aspect of development that appeals to Morant, who has missed 34 games due to various suspensions. Morant also has a deep respect for Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra, who also runs Team USA; Morant desires to represent his country in the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Miami’s veteran presence is an additional selling point and something Morant craves.”

It’s unclear what a Morant package could look like, but Kevin O’Connor of Yahoo Sports doesn’t think it will be much, considering his star status.

“Memphis is taking the opposite approach: Executives around the league say the Grizzlies are signaling a willingness to take on bad contracts, if it means being compensated with young players or picks. But the Grizzlies aren’t going to get that much for Morant. Think pick swaps, not unprotected firsts. Think moderate bets on rookie contracts, not exciting young players. Even getting those assets might require Memphis to take on bad money in return. There are only three kinds of Ja buyers: Stuck-in-the-middle teams hunting a shortcut, desperate franchises, and gamblers who think their structure can fix any talent.”

According to FOX Sports, the Heat have the third-best odds to land Morant.
