Miami Prepares for Tuesday Night Contest Versus CMU
ABOUT CENTRAL MICHIGAN: Central Michigan is currently 5-12 (1-4 MAC), as the Chippewas most recently took down Kent State 87-85 at home on Saturday afternoon. Central Michigan went 14-17 (7-11 MAC) last year. Head coach Andy Bronkema is in his first season with the Chippewas. Heading into the 2025-26 season, Central Michigan was selected to finish 12th overall in the 2025-26 MAC Preseason Men’s Basketball Poll.
Senior center Nathan Claerbaut (12.5/game), senior guard Tamario Adley (11.4/game) and sophomore guard Phat Phat Brooks (10.8/game) lead the Chippewas offense in points. Claerbaut has recorded the most rebounds (6.4/game) and blocks (1.9/game), while Adley leads the team in both assists (3.5/game) and steals (1.4/game).
THE SERIES WITH THE CHIPPEWAS: This Tuesday’s home contest against the Chippewas will be the 85th meeting between the two programs. Miami leads in the series 58-26 all-time, as the Red and White are 29-10 when playing in Oxford against the Chippewas. Miami is currently on a two-game winning streak against the Chippewas, as the RedHawks’ last victory over Central Michigan was a 76-70 win in Mount Pleasant on Feb. 4, 2025.

RECENT ACTION: The Miami University men’s basketball team flew past Toledo for an 87-73 win at Savage Arena on Friday evening. Antwone Woolfolk led all players with 21 points, while Brant Byers poured in 20 points and Eian Elmer added 16 of his own. With this win, the Red and White secured its first victory at Savage Arena since Feb. 12, 2011. The Red and White shot over 50% (34-of-63) from the field for the 13th time this season. This was the second time this season Miami had two players score 20 or more points. The RedHawks scored more than 50 points in a single half of a conference game for the second time this season.
HOME COURT ADVANTAGE: With Miami’s most recent win at home over Western Michigan (87-76), the Red and White extended its home win streak to 24 games. With this victory, the RedHawks surpassed the record of 23 straight home wins that was originally set in 1996-1998. Last season, Miami set a new record of 15 consecutive home wins over the course of one season.
RANKINGS: Miami received 49 votes in the most recent Associated Press Top 25 men’s college basketball poll on Monday, Jan. 12. The Red and White reached its highest ranking of the 2025-26 season on the Mid-Major Top 25® Poll, as Collegeinsider announced its new poll Monday, Jan. 5, with the RedHawks ranked No. 2 overall. The RedHawks are just one of five teams that are still undefeated at the Division I level (Arizona, Iowa State, Miami, Nebraska and Vanderbilt).
