MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A portion of U.S. 441 in northwest Miami-Dade was shut down Tuesday afternoon as authorities investigated a possible explosive device.

The closure occurred near Northwest 108th Street, where Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and police units blocked off the area.

Emergency vehicles were positioned along the roadway, and yellow police tape was stretched across the street, preventing traffic from passing through.

Sky 10 flew over the scene at about 12:40 p.m., showing multiple Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units securing the area.

Interstate 95 was also experiencing heavy traffic.

Authorities continued working to determine the nature of the device and the steps needed to make the area safe.

No other details were immediately released.
