ITSO opens cross-border listing access with Miami Realtors

Information Technology Systems Ontario (ITSO) users now have a direct link to South Florida via a new data-sharing partnership that connects two markets with deep ties through Canadian snowbirds.

ITSO and the Miami Association of Realtors have announced an agreement that allows agents in both regions to access each other’s property listings through a platform called IntraMatrix.

The partnership marks Miami’s first data-share agreement in Canada and its 11th overall.

About 350,000 Canadians spend three to six months in Florida annually, with many owning property there, according to the Canadian Snowbird Association. The new arrangement creates referral opportunities for agents serving clients who maintain homes in both locations.

While the alliance won’t create a new revenue stream for ITSO, it is a value-add for members, according to executive director Allison Ostafew.

“As much as you can refer clients out, it’s better to be able to maintain those networks first, so that you can help them look for houses, keep an eye on the market, and then once your clients are ready to make that leap, you can introduce them to someone,” she said in an interview.

She added that launching during an “extremely cold December” in Ontario was good timing.

How it works

ITSO chair Nicole Pohl said the partnership supports the non-profit’s philosophy that listing data should be more transparent.

“By opening cross-border listing access, we are giving Ontario real estate professionals new tools to meet the needs of clients who are increasingly looking beyond local markets,” she said.

The system allows agents to view listings in the partner region at no cost, though they cannot add or edit properties in the other market. Each database remains independently owned and operated.

ITSO has close to 10,000 members. Only full members – which are the vast majority – will have access to the Miami data.

ITSO’s 2026 priorities

Ostafew and Pohl said the early part of next year will be dedicated to updating ITSO’s technology.

They said there are other data-sharing partnerships in Canada and the U.S. they are looking into, but none they can disclose yet.
