Pittsburgh Steelers add former Eagles offensive lineman, Miami cornerback for Lions game

The Pittsburgh Steelers are elevating offensive lineman Jack Driscoll and cornerback Daryl Porter Jr. for their game against the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

This is Driscoll’s second straight elevation, as he brings more depth to the team’s roster with Isaac Seumalo out with a triceps injury.

Driscoll was the Eagles’ fourth-round pick out of Auburn in the 2020 NFL Draft. He has started in 18 games and played in 67 games over his career. After his rookie contract expired following the 2023 season, Driscoll was let go by the Eagles and signed a deal with the Miami Dolphins.

He did not play against the Dolphins, but has plenty of pedigree to give the Steelers experienced depth.

Meanwhile, this is Porter’s first game up. He is a rookie out of Miami that was signed by the Steelers in training camp, and is coming up to be the fourth cornerback with James Pierre out due to a calf injury.

Porter signed with the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent in the 2025 NFL Draft, but they cut him during training camp, giving the Steelers the chance to scoop up Porter.

Porter’s father, Daryl Porter Sr., was drafted by the Steelers in the 1997 NFL Draft and had two different stints with the team over his six-year NFL career. He did not play a game for the Steelers but played three seasons for the Bills.

Porter Jr. played two seasons with the West Virginia Mountaineers before transferring to Miami ahead of the 2022 season. He ran a 4.58 40-yard dash at his pro day.
