MLS awards Messi the 2025 Landon Donovan MLS Most Valuable Player
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Inter Miami CF is celebrating Lionel Messi on Tuesday after the Major League Soccer Cup victory on Saturday at the Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.
Don Garber, the MLS commissioner, awarded Messi the 2025 Landon Donovan MLS Most Valuable Player and described him as a game changer.
“He has elevated this league in ways that I don’t think anybody could have imagined,” Garber said, adding, “When you have the greatest player to ever play a game playing here at Inter Miami, it raises the profile of the league.”
It was Messi’s second consecutive MLS MVP award. Garber said he is looking forward to the Miami Freedom Stadium, which will be one of the best in the world.
“It’s going to be terrific,” Garber said.
