No. 19 Miami Set for Test at No. 6/5 Denver
Miami returns to the United States –and NCHC action– this week after capturing the Belpot Trophy in the 2025 Friendship Four last weekend in Northern Ireland. The RedHawks blanked RIT 4-0 and then took down then-No. 20 Union 3-2 in the championship game. As a result, Miami cracked the USCHO poll for the first time since January 2019, checking in at No. 19 (also No. 19 in USA Hockey poll). Next up, Miami (10-4-0, 2-4-0 NCHC) heads to No. 6/5 Denver. The Pioneers are 9-5-1, 5-1-0 NCHC after a 6-5 overtime loss to Minnesota Saturday in the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Game.
This week’s games at Magness Arena are set for Friday, Dec. 5 at 9 p.m. ET and Saturday, Dec. 6 at 8 p.m. ET. The contests will be broadcast on NCHC.tv, with Greg Waddell’s audio broadcast streaming on MiamiRedHawks.com.
Matteo Giampa (8-7-15) leads the RedHawks in points and goals, while Kocha Delic (6-8-14) and Vladislav Lukashevich (2-12-14) also average a point per game for the Red and White; Lukashevich has a team-high 12 assists. Miami now has eight double-digit point-scorers on the year. Matteo Drobac has played every minute in net and is 10-4-0 between the pipes (3.00 GAA, .902 save %).
Freshman forward Bradley Walker and head coach Anthony Noreen met with the media this week to preview the games against the Pioneers.
