A Weeklong Miami Vice Celebration Is Happening In Miami Beach


If you love all things Miami Vice, you’re going to want to clear your calendar for the show’s 41st anniversary! The city is heating up for Miami Vice Week with plenty of dinner experiences, screenings, tours and celebrity appearances to celebrate the show’s cultural impact.

Running from September 9 through 14, Miami Beach will travel back to the 1980s in honor of the series that defined the city’s look and feel. You can expect to find special guests in attendance, such as Academy Award–winner Edward James Olmos (Lt. Castillo himself), Miami Beach Mayor Steven Meiner, and beloved cast members Olivia Brown (Trudy Joplin), Saundra Santiago (Gina Calabrese), John Diehl (Larry Zito), Bill Smitrovich (Scott Wheeler), Penelope Ann Miller (Jill Ryder) and more.

Events to look out for this Miami Vice Week

  • September 9: Outdoor screening of the pilot episode, “Brothers Keeper,” alongside original cast and crew at the Clevelander. Event starts at 7 p.m.
  • September 9-October 31: The Museum, home to the world’s largest collection of Miami Vice memorabilia like Don Johnson’s screen-used pistols, never-before-seen photos and original neon signs from the set. Open daily and located at the World Erotic Art Museum.
  • September 10: 80s Car & Fashion Show transforming Ocean Drive into a runway from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The main ceremony will be held at the Cardozo Hotel. Free and open to the public.
  • September 12-13: Alumni Meet & Greet with the cast (Edward James Olmos, Olivia Brown, Penelope Ann Miller, Tony Plana, Bruce McGill, Bill Smitrovich, Pepe Serna, Ismael East Carlo and more) at Moxy Hotel South Beach. Runs from noon to 4 p.m.
  • September 12-13: Dinner experiences with original cast members Edward James Olmos, Olivia Brown, John Diehl and more at Yuca105 in Miami Beach. Dinner is at 7 p.m.
  • September 14: Screening of “Pepe Serna Life is Art” at the Betsy Hotel, a film directed by Luis Reyes and starring Eva Longoria, Edward James Olmos and Cheech Marin. Will be followed by a Q&A session with actor Pepe Serna. Taking place at 2 p.m.
  • September 14: Brunch with the Bad Guys, where villain actors Tony Plana, Bruce McGill, Pepe Serna, Bill Smitrovich and Ismael Carlo host brunch at A Fish Called Avalon. Begins at 11 a.m.
  • September 14: Miami Vice Wrap Party at J’Adore on Ocean Drive with the cast and additional live entertainment. Starting at 6:30 p.m.
