Boy injured shooting near Homestead in critical condition, officials say
A large law enforcement investigation is underway in a neighborhood near Homestead in southwest Miami-Dade.
The investigation is happening off SW 283 Street near SW 140 Place, this is west of the Florida Turnpike and just north of Biscayne Drive.
According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, around 3:45 a.m. they received a call about a person yelling and deputies were dispatched to check it out.
When they arrived, the deputies found a “juvenile male victim lying on the ground with apparent gunshot(s) wounds,” the sheriff’s office said.
Investigators said the teen was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
One person has been detained, according to deputies.
