MIAMI — A Miami police officer accused of firing her gun during a domestic violence incident with her boyfriend, who is also a Miami police officer, bonded out of jail late Monday night.

Officer Sthephany Canizares, 27, was booked into jail Sunday evening on charges of aggravated assault with a firearm and discharging a firearm in public or on residential property.

A Miami-Dade County judge later ruled that there wasn’t enough evidence to move forward with the aggravated assault charge, but did find enough evidence to move forward with a misdemeanor charge for allegedly firing a gun outside.

For that, Canizares was given a $500 bond and was told she can still be around her boyfriend, identified as Officer Vigo, as long as there’s no more violence between them.

An MPD spokesperson said Canizares “has been relieved of duty with pay, pending the outcome of an active investigation.”

Local 10 News has requested a copy of Canizares’ arrest report.
