A North Miami couple was arrested for child neglect after authorities said their two young children were found “severely malnourished” and one had arm and leg fractures.

According to arrest reports, the police investigation into the couple dates back to at least June 24, when a Department of Children and Families investigator took custody of their children, ages 7 and 4.
The DCF investigator said the children weren’t being fed properly, hadn’t been evaluated by a doctor since 2022, and were also not enrolled in school, the report said.
The 7-year-old was found to be non-verbal, severely malnourished, not trained to use the bathroom and still wearing diapers, the reports said.
The 4-year-old was also malnourished and weighed just 15 pounds in June, and was constipated due to dehydration, the reports said.
In addition, the 4-year-old, who doesn’t walk to talk, was discovered with a fractured arm and leg, the reports said.
“In January 2025, the defendant and co-defendant leased an apartment that was furnished, and they financed a vehicle in February 202,” the reports said. “Those finances could have been utilized to fund the medical care of victim 1 and victim 2.”
The parents were booked into jail, and were expected to appear in bond court later Thursday.
The reports noted that the kids’ health is improving since they were placed under the care of medical professionals.
