MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Two people have been detained and an investigation is ongoing after a violent crash in Miami-Dade County.

It happened Wednesday at approximately 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Northwest 22nd Avenue and 26th Street.

According to deputies, a unit with the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Robbery Intervention Detail tried stopping a vehicle in the area of Northwest 56th Street and 27th Avenue, but it sped away.

Shortly after, a crash involving three vehicles, including the one that fled from the RID unit, occurred, deputies said.

According to first responders, two of the vehicles were badly damaged and one rolled over, which left several people trapped inside.

Detectives said they determined it was the vehicle that took off that caused the crash.

Four people were taken to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical but stable condition, according to deputies.
