University of Miami’s centenary campaign raises $2.65 billion | Philanthropy news


The University of Miami—established in 1925—has announced the conclusion of its centenary fundraising campaign, which raised $2.65 billion over the past decade.

The Ever Brighter Campaign, publicly launched in November of 2021, received funds from over 160,000 donors—107,000 them first-time contributors. The campaign garnered 443 gifts of more than $1 million each. Major gifts include $50 million in 2024 from Kenneth C. Griffin, $126 million in 2020 from an anonymous donor—the university’s largest gift from an individual—and $100 million in 2016 from Phillip and Patricia Frost.

The campaign secured commitments totaling $689 million for the university’s endowment, raised $280 million for student support and scholarships, and funded 112 new endowed faculty positions. Overall, the campaign exceeded its $2.5 billion goal by more than 6 percent.

“Reaching this milestone during our centennial is both profound and inspiring. This campaign is about more than a number—it is about the outcomes that philanthropy makes possible,” said University of Miami trustee and campaign chair Stuart A. Miller. “Thanks to donor generosity, we are better positioned than ever to lead, serve, and thrive for the next 100 years and beyond.”
