A 45-year-old man was arrested for allegedly offering $2,000 to a 15-year-old girl who was babysitting his son to spend the night with him.

Lester Tellez is charged with lewd and lascivious conduct and promoting sexual performance by a child, Miami Police said on Tuesday. Police credit the girl he tried to coerce for reporting it to her sister and law enforcement.

According to an arrest report, the incident began when Tellez unexpectedly showed up at an apartment to pick up his son from the babysitter.

Tellez allegedly tried to seduce the girl while he was at the hospital visiting his dying grandmother. According to police, he even sent a picture of her in her hospital bed while at the same time trying to lure the girl into spending a night with him.

After the babysitter reported the initial conversation to police, investigators took over. They started texting Tellez as if they were the 15-year-old.

“You know I am only about to turn 16,” investigators texted Tellez.

“Don’t tell me you have not masturbated,” Tellez replied.

When the undercover detective wrote, “That’s all you want for the $2000?” Tellez allegedly replied, “Let’s make love,” adding that he had a vasectomy and he would wear a condom.

Then, according to police, he went into graphic detail about what he wanted to do with the girl.

“He should be a sex offender,” said a man who knows Tellez but didn’t want to be identified. “He should be registered as a sex offender. That’s totally unacceptable. I’m glad they caught him. They caught him pretty fast. You know, within four hours.”
