Miami Dolphins run like ‘little league team,’ says ex-All-Pro whose son is free agent CB

Following the Jalen Ramsey trade, the Miami Dolphins will likely look for reinforcements at the cornerback position. One possible option is free agent Asante Samuel Jr., but it sounds like the Dolphins may want to look elsewhere.

Samuel’s father, Asante Samuel Sr., is an former All-Pro cornerback in the NFL. He is a two-time Super Bowl champion with New England Patriots. He is not a fan of the Dolphins organization.

On a recent episode of his podcast “Say What Needs To Be Said,” Samuel Sr. shared his thoughts on how the team is run.

“The Dolphins had no reason to trade Jalen Ramsey other than they’re sensitive,” Samuel said. “There’s no leadership in the Dolphins organization. Mike McDaniel is a push-over. Chris Grier, the general manager, has no backbone.”

HAL HABIB: Can Miami Dolphins’ Tyreek Hill, other receivers rebound after turbulent 2024?

“They are running this team like a little league team. No one can stand up to the players. They’re terrified of their own players, and they have no control over their players.”

These remarks may give pause to anyone thinking the younger Samuel would find Miami as a possible destination for the upcoming season.

Samuel Jr. is currently an unrestricted free agent after playing four years with the Los Angeles Chargers. In those years, he has six interceptions and 37 passes deflected. He had back to back seasons playing 17 games until his shoulder injury this past season limited him to four games. The 25-year-old underwent neck surgery in April and has still not signed with a team.
