Meet the 2025-26 Miami Hockey Team: Matteo Giampa
OXFORD, Ohio— With the Miami Hockey season set to begin on Friday, Oct. 3 against Ferris State at Steve “Coach” Cady Arena, second-year head coach Anthony Noreen‘s program will have quite a few new faces in 2025-26.
Matteo Giampa, a forward from Virgil, Ontario, will join the RedHawks this year. He played the last two seasons at Canisius University.

PRIOR TO MIAMI
- Led Canisius in scoring for two years in a row (18-17-35 as freshman, 8-22-30 as sophomore)
- Served as Griffins’ assistant captain during 2024-25 season
- Matched program single-game record with a five-point game against Mercyhurst in October 2024
- Has been named AHA Player of the Month, Rookie of the Month (twice) and Forward of the Week (twice)
- Recognized as Second-Team All-AHA in each of his first two seasons with Canisius
- Honored as AHA Rookie of the Year in 2023-24 campaign and was finalist for Tim Taylor Award
- Earned AHA All-Academic Team recognition in 2023-24
- Two-time Hobey Baker Award nominee
- Collected 135 points (45-90-135) in two seasons with Bonnyville Pontiacs (107 appearances) and added 22 points in 16 postseason games
- Named Pontiacs’ regular-season MVP and won team’s top scorer award (92 points) and plus-minus award in 2022-23 season
- Led AJHL in assists and was named to AJHL (North) All-Star Team in 2022-23
- Participated in Florida Panthers’ 2023 development camp
