Match Report: Orlando City B dominates intrastate rivals Inter Miami CF II 3-0 in Florida Derby

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (May 17, 2025) – Orlando City B (4-4-1, 14 points) battled Inter Miami CF II (3-6-1, 10 points) at Osceola County Stadium to a 3-0 win on Saturday night. With their dominant victory, the Lions moved up to seventh place in the Eastern Conference.

Midfielder Gustavo Caraballo continued his form from his two-goal performance for Orlando City in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup by scoring a first-half goal to put the young Lions ahead early. The goal served as the first of the season for Caraballo and the first of his OCB career.

The young Lions were also backed by goals from the Club’s leading scorer and First Team midfielder Shak Mohammed, as well as forward Justin Ellis who converted from the penalty spot in the 59th minute. Mohammed’s goal increased his season tally to six and saw him gain sole possession of third place in goals scored in the league this year.

Forward Justin Ellis also provided two assists in the match, providing the helpers on both Shak Mohammed’s and Gustavo Caraballo’s goals. The assists came from similar positions, as Ellis was able to provide a chip pass in Miami’s box to set up the first-touch finishes from Mohammed and Caraballo.

The Lions will head to the Peach State next to take on Atlanta United 2 on Friday, May 23. The game will stream live on MLSNEXTPro.com, with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. ET at Fifth Third Stadium in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Midfielder Gustavo Caraballo got the scoring started early in the first half to give Orlando City B the lead. On his first touch, after receiving a chip pass from forward Justin Ellis in the middle of the Miami box, Carballo curled the ball into the bottom right corner of the net with a precise low-driven shot.

Orlando City B added another to its lead just six minutes into the second half with a goal from First Team midfielder Shak Mohammed. Forward Justin Ellis provided his second assist of the night on another chip pass in Miami’s box, this time to Mohammed. After letting the pass take just one bounce, Mohammed was able to curve the ball into the bottom left corner of the net with a first touch shot.

Just eight minutes later the Lions earned the chance to add a third on the night, as Favian Loyola’s shot was blocked in the box and called as a handball on Inter Miami II. Forward Justin Ellis stepped up for the spot kick and sent it curling high and just inside the right post for the goal, leaving goalkeeper Ivan Schmid no chance to stop it.
