QUOTES

  • “First off Griffin Hugus is having a great year, but I thought we had the best approach in that first inning that anyone has had against him all year. We went 9-for-9 with quality at-bats in the first inning and put a crooked number on the board. It was a great job by Owen Proksch to go in behind that and give us a shutdown inning. I think we were really good on the mound. Our bullpen was really good down the stretch. It was a good job of keeping our foot on the gas pedal. The at-bat by Jake Hyde was incredible. The thing that shouldn’t get lost in that at-bat is after the double play we had two outs and nobody on. It was a great job by Wallace ClarkAJ Gracia, and Ben Miller to set the table for the big swing. We stayed on go and stayed in the fight.” – Head coach Chris Pollard on the job to keep the foot on the gas from pitch one.
  • “I think two-out hitting is a product of being in the moment. Teams that press and ride waves of momentum aren’t great at two-out hitting. If you truly take pride in the moment, two-outs are no different than one out, or no-outs. I think we are doing a good job of being in the moment right now.” – On continuing success of hitting and capitalizing with two outs.
