Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the scene and took all three of them to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

Despite medical efforts, Brown died from her injuries at the hospital, MDSO said. The two children remained hospitalized in critical condition as of Sunday afternoon.

According to MDSO’s preliminary investigation, Brown and the children were inside the SUV when “several subjects” approached the vehicle and opened fire, striking all three of them, before fleeing the area.

There is no other information at this time, but MDSO added that detectives are trying to establish the familial ties among the women and children.
