Four people, including three children, were killed in a shooting Wednesday night at an apartment complex in Pembroke Park, authorities said.

Broward County Regional Communications received a call about the shooting shortly after 7:30 p.m. in the 3100 block of West Hallandale Beach Boulevard. When Pembroke Park police officers arrived, they found a woman, an infant and two toddlers dead in a fourth floor apartment. The also found a man and a girl suffering from gunshot wounds.

Paramedics transported the man to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital and the 10-year-old girl to Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, the man was in critical condition and the girl was listed in serious condition.

CBS Miami news partner The Miami Herald reported that the man killed the four and injured the girl before turning the gun on himself.

At one point, a woman ran toward the apartment complex screaming “That’s my daughter.” A Broward Sheriff’s deputy stopped her before she could reach the building and held her as she cried in his arms, according to The Miami Herald.

Neighbor Angel Aquino said he heard gunfire before seeing police arrive.

“I just heard eight shots coming from the fourth floor, so I came outside,” he said. “One of my neighbors told me a man tried to kill all of his family and then tried to kill himself.”

Pembroke Park Police said this was a domestic situation and there is no threat to the public.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit is leading the investigation.
