Wendy Williams Spent Dad’s Birthday in Miami After Claiming She Couldn’t

Wendy Williams was able to celebrate her dad’s birthday with him, after all.

The former television host — who is currently living in a New York City wellness facility she describes as a “prison” — was photographed arriving at Miami International Airport on Saturday, Feb. 15, ahead of her father Thomas Williams Sr.’s 94th birthday.

Though Wendy, 60, previously claimed she may not be able to attend due to her ongoing conservatorship, a judge ruled that she was permitted to fly to Miami for two days to celebrate her dad’s special day.

And the former Wendy Williams Show host appeared happy to be arriving in the Florida city to see family, smiling widely while sitting in a motorized scooter at the Miami airport, the newly snapped photos show.

Last month, the former TV personality said she was unsure whether she would be able to visit Thomas for his birthday during an emotional interview with Charlamagne tha God on The Breakfast Club.

“My dad is going to be 94 next month. I don’t know if I’m able to fly to Miami to say happy birthday to my dad,” Wendy said, claiming that the “person who is holding me hostage” is to blame should she miss the family occasion.

Referring to her court-appointed guardian Sabrina Morrissey, Wendy said, “Listen, I don’t know if she’s going to let me see my dad for his birthday.” (Morrissey has been overseeing Wendy’s finances and health since 2022, while her family has restricted contact with her.)

A source with knowledge of the matter explained that the guardianship court ultimately holds the power to decide whether it is safe for Wendy to travel to Florida or any other locations outside of her N.Y.C. facility, where she has 24/7 medical care.

Also in the interview, Wendy explained that it is especially important to see her dad because of his age. “I’m exhausted thinking about what if I can’t see my dad for his birthday. At 94, the day after that is not promised,” said the star, whose mom, Shirley Williams, died in 2020 when she was 85.

Wendy’s niece Alex Finnie, who was by her side for the emotional conversation, echoed her aunt’s sadness about potentially missing Thomas’ milestone.

“She wants to be here for his birthday,” Finnie said, “and the fact that they’re playing games — I’m sorry, that is just absolutely sickening.”

Wendy also revealed on The Breakfast Club that she was recently in Florida to attend her son Kevin Hunter Jr.’s graduation from Florida International University, and also got to see her dad during the rare trip to see family.

She said that the 24-year-old grad, whom she shares with her ex-husband Kevin Hunter, is “doing such a great job” while reflecting on the visit. “Talk about the great time we had — seeing my dad — we all went out and had a party,” she added.

Wendy is currently undergoing a new medical evaluation as she does not believe her diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia is correct. On Friday, Feb. 14, Morrissey filed a motion on behalf of Wendy, asking the court to delay her case against A&E Television Networks to allow time for the medical evaluation.
