Indian short film night at Miami short Film Festival | Miami


Indian filmmakers have long dominated the global blockbuster industry with their creativity and passion, but their short films are also worth shining a spotlight on.

This year, The Miami short Film Festival decided to shine a special light on the variety of shorts the country has to offer in their brand new series “Focus On: Films From India.”

Held on Sunday, March 9, attendees can enjoy a curated collection of shorts at Deering Estate. A welcome cocktail reception will be held at 7 p.m. and screenings will begin at 7:30 p.m.

MAST QALANDAR






A captivating narrative directed by Divij Roopchand. This 15-minute film from India tells the story of Montek, a young boy with a secret birthday wish that he dares not share with his mother. Experience the magic of storytelling and cultural richness at our event.


ARRANGED MARRIAGE

Directed by Narasimhan Krishnamachari, this 12-minute narrative film from India explores the intriguing question: Can love be arranged? Presented in English, this film delves into the complexities and cultural nuances of arranged marriages.


Aashpordha

Directed by Anirban Roy, this 13 minute Narrative is about revenge, as sweet as a little child. A dark comedy about a rebellious 13-year-old and her orthodox dad. Set in a nosy neighborhood of Calcutta, India, this film will make you squirm and laugh at the same time.


DURGA

Directed by Vivek Kajaria, a 13 minute narrative about a poor village artist, his love for his granddaughter, and ultimately the faith of a worshiper of goddess Durga with the final task to do justice to his very existence & purpose in life.


SISAK

Directed by Faraz Ansari, a 15 minute narrative; depicting a romance that buds between two men in the Mumbai local trains over a period of many nights. A return to the unspoken, unsaid and universal expressions of love, on the path of subtlety and humanity. Experience this poignant journey of connection and emotion that transcends words.


DRY LEAVES

Directed by Ali Sohail Jaura, this 10-minute narrative film from India follows Zahida as she arrives at a home for the elderly, believing her son will return for her after a week. Hesitant and apprehensive, she meets Farhat, who is full of hope. As the story unfolds, Zahida realizes that the future might be different from her expectations. Experience this touching tale of hope and realization.
