Broncos back in business at home, dominate Miami (OH) in weekend opener

It didn’t take long for Western Michigan to get comfortable back at Lawson Arena. When they did, it felt like they’d never left.

The Broncos dominated the visiting RedHawks of Miami of Ohio Friday night, coming away with a 8-3 win.

Owen Michaels led the way with two goals while six other players scored: Iiro Hakkarainen, Liam Valente, Wyatt Schingoethe, Alex Bump, Samuel Sjolund, and Zach Nehring. Bump also finished with three assists.

Ryan Sullivan finished with a pair of goals to led the RedHawks.

Cam Rowe needed just 18 saves to come away with the win between the pipes for Western.

The Broncos returned home for the first time since the first weekend of January when the swept Alaska Anchorage in a typical two-game series. They swept North Dakota on the road last weekend.

Western Michigan is now a quick 5-0 in the new calendar year.
