Women’s Tennis Sweeps Miami to Start 2025 Dual Slate
CORAL GABLES, Fla. — FIU’s women’s tennis team swept Miami 4-0 on Saturday to kick off its 2025 dual schedule.
The Panthers (1-0) took down the Hurricanes (0-2) in dominating fashion on Saturday afternoon. In doubles, Valery Gynina and Ekaterina Khairutdinova teamed up for a 6-0 win over Miami’s top pairing.
Due to a forfeit at No. 3 doubles from the Hurricanes, Khairutdinova and Gynina’s win secured the 1-0 lead for FIU.
FIU earned a 2-0 advantage due to a forfeit at the No. 6 singles slot. At No. 5 singles, Petja Drame defeated her opponent in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.
Khairutdinova, currently 80th in the NCAA Singles rankings, came back from a 6-1 loss in the opening set to win 7-5, 6-0 in sets two and three, respectively, to clinch the match for FIU. 52nd-ranked Oyinlomo Quadre was in a battle with 70th-ranked Raquel Gonzalez, winning 6-4 in the opening set before dropping set two, 6-3, and a 3-3 unfinished third.

FIU will participate in the ITA Kick-off next weekend in Gainesvilla, Fla., Jan. 25-26.
