Carson Beck’s new NIL amount from Miami adds clarity to transfer decision
There have been a lot of rumors surrounding former Georgia football quarterback Carson Beck’s decision to transfer to Miami (FL) to play one final season in college. Many insiders have shared what they believe drove Beck to leave Georgia and make this decision while other reports have surfaced surrounding how much NIL money Miami offered him.
However, the initial report surrounding the amount of NIL Miami offered Beck appears to be incorrect as The Athletic shared a post on social media on Sunday providing a new number that Miami will be paying Beck.
Carson Beck will make $3 million at Miami
According to Bruce Feldman with The Athletic, Beck is set to make $3 million from Miami to play one final season of college football with the Hurricanes.
This number is very interesting for a few reasons. The first being that Georgia could definitely afford to pay Beck this amount of money if they wanted to. So Beck transferring to Miami tells us that either Georgia was unwilling to pay Beck this much or Beck did not have any interest in returning to UGA no matter how much money they offered him. The most likely reason is probably a mix of these two, but this is an interesting dynamic to think about.
On top of this, Miami’s QB from this past season, Cam Ward, reportedly made $1.6 million last year. So Beck is almost making twice as much as Ward did when he is most certainly not twice as good as Ward. Some people would even argue that Ward is in fact better than Beck, so some people think this amount of money is disrespectful to Ward.
The full reason why Beck and Georgia ended up parting ways may never be known, but it likely had a lot to do with NIL. It also likely had a lot to do with one or both parties wanting to move on from each other. Regardless of the reason, it will be very fun to watch how this plays out for Georgia and Beck at Miami during the 2025 season.
