Woman arrested months after shooting another woman in face

MIAMI – A 43-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday, months after she shot another woman in the face in Miami, authorities said.

According to an arrest report from the Miami Police Department, Stephane Michaud, of Hallandale Beach, faces charges of attempted second-degree murder, use of a firearm while committing a felony, grand theft of a firearm and unlawful discharging of a firearm in a public place.

Police said the shooting occurred the night of Oct. 5, 2024, in the area of 45 NW 61st St.

According to the report, officers responded to the area after receiving a report about a female being shot.

Officers said they initially did not find anyone at the scene, but one officer spotted a blood trail on the pavement and women’s sandals in the middle of the road.

Police said they followed the blood trail to the 6000 block of Northwest First Avenue where they found the victim and her daughter.

According to the report, the victim had a gunshot wound to the left side of her face.

Officers performed life-saving measures on the victim before paramedics arrived and transported her to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center.

Police said they later spoke with a witness who said she was walking with the victim and the victim’s daughter when Michaud charged at the victim and began punching her.

The witness said the victim fought back and began to overpower Michaud, at which time Michaud pulled out a gun and shot one round at the victim’s torso.

The witness said she got into between the two women to stop the altercation, and Michaud then raised the gun by the witness’s ear and fired another shot, striking the victim in the face.

According to the report, the victim was later interviewed by detectives at the hospital and said she had been having issues with Michaud for about two weeks before the shooting because Michaud had been speaking poorly about her.

The victim claimed that two days before the shooting Michaud had tried to run over the victim and her daughter with her car.

The victim said she sustained multiple scrapes to her knees from that incident, but didn’t report it to police.

According to the report, the victim said prior to the shooting, she was getting ready to leave a party with her daughter when she was approached by Michaud.

The victim said she eventually wrestled the gun away from Michaud after the shooting.

The victim later identified Michaud in a lineup.

A records check of the gun used in the shooting revealed that it had been reported stolen out of Hallandale Beach, the arrest report stated.

According to the report, after being detained Wednesday, Michaud invoked her right to not speak with detectives.

As of Thursday afternoon, she was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center where her bond had yet to be set.
