Fire ignites inside southwest Miami-Dade apartment building on Christmas Eve


MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – First responders rushed to the scene of an apartment fire in southwest Miami-Dade County on Tuesday morning.

It happened before 8 a.m. in a second story unit inside the Hammocks Trails condos located along the 15300 block of southwest 106th Lane.

According to authorities, fire crews responded to reports of a kitchen fire.

After arriving, firefighters quickly worked to get the fire under control.

Local 10 News’ Trent Kelly spoke to a woman who said she was cooking pork in the kitchen for the Christmas Eve holiday, but after putting it in the oven, that is when she quickly noticed smoke.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said one person was treated at the scene but there were no hospital transports required.
