Inside a $16 Million Contemporary Mansion in Miami’s Bal Harbour

Miami’s many luxury residential towers and branded residences might comprise much of the city’s ever-growing skyline, but not everyone wants to live in a high-rise building. For those seeking a palatial pad on a private, tree-lined parcel that lets them keep their feet planted on the ground, look no further than this $15.9 million home in Bal Harbour.

Bal Harbour village sits at the northern tip of Miami Beach and is best known for its famous Bal Harbour Shops and its ultra-luxe homes. And this swanky, travertine-clad residence is no exception. The 6,700-square-foot home has seven bedrooms and seven bathrooms, plus two more powder rooms. It’s situated on just under half an acre of land, but is ensconced by lush tropical foliage and manicured lawns.

The home was designed by Sanchez + Coleman Studios, founded by the former fashion designer and Project Runway Latin America judge Angel Sanchez and his design partner Chris Coleman. Sanchez, a lifelong creative, has designed couture outfits for Beyoncé, Sandra Bullock, Taylor Swift, and Meryl Streep, among others, but has expanded his career from fashion design into interior design.

Become Legendary

Though contemporary in design, the bold, boxy home has warm and sumptuous interiors with rich textures and natural materials, like marble, travertine, suede, and oak. Upon entering the home into the grand salon, you’re met with soaring 22-foot-high ceilings, oak-paneled walls, custom drapery, sculptural chandeliers, and a double-height wall of glass that brings the surrounding greenery inside. Off the grand salon is a custom kitchen with a fluted travertine island, custom oak cabinetry, a media wall, and wine storage. There’s also a chic breakfast nook with an open-concept vapor fireplace.

Nearby is a formal dining room, complete with a 16-seat ribbed marble statement table underneath a chandelier, diamond wood floors, and a built-in buffet crafted from Persian green marble. Floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors open directly to a covered area with a sunken fire pit.

A floating oak and glass staircase leads to the second level, which includes a private wing dedicated to the primary suite. There are Parisian-style gray suede walls, floating marble nightstands, a floor-to-ceiling vapor fireplace, and a large seating area. It leads to a private landscaped balcony and connects to a massive spa-like bathroom lined with Calacatta Viola marble.

The remaining six en suite bedrooms are filtered throughout the first and second floors, and each has a bathroom with a different type of marble that lines the walls and shower. A lofted walkway on the second floor overlooks the grand salon. Other indoor amenities include a media room with sumptuous suede walls and a plush couch, as well as an expansive movie theater that wouldn’t look out of place in a modern Paris apartment. The backyard makes great use of space with a lengthy pool surrounded by lawn space, as well as an outdoor lounging area, a cabana with an outdoor fireplace, and the sunken fire pit.

The home is located in a private gated community with a private marina, park, and police force. The property is listed with Dina Goldentayer of Douglas Elliman.
