Miami Dolphins will host Free Agent EDGE Emmanuel Ogbah on Monday

With Shaquill Barrett announcing his retirement days before veterans officially report to training camp (I don’t blame him one bit), the Miami Dolphins were bound to make a move at EDGE sooner rather than later.

That first of those moves will come on Monday, according to NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe, when the Dolphins will host free-agent pass-rusher Emmanuel Ogbah. The 30-year-old EDGE last played for the Dolphins in 2023, recording 20 total tackles, five sacks, one forced fumble, and an interception.

However, like the rest of Miami’s defense, Ogbah seemed unhappy (at times) with his role under former defensive coordinator Vic Fangio. Here’s what he had to say after the New York Jets game back on November 27th.

“This season has had ups and downs, but I can’t really complain. Thankfully, I’m still here. But it’s definitely had its ups and downs.”

Ogbah, 30, has played eight seasons in the NFL, with the last four being in South Florida. In that time, the Super-Bowl-Winning-Pass-rusher started 27 of 57 games, recording 114 tackles, 24.5 sacks, 61 quarterback hits, five forced fumbles, and five pass breakups with Miami.

The real question isn’t whether the Dolphins can use a player of Ogbah’s caliber — they absolutely can. No, the real question is whether or not new defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver, general manager Chris Grier, and head coach Mike McDaniel can convince Ogbah to come back for one last ride — at the right price. Speaking of salary, what is the right price for a player that we all remember once recorded back-to-back nine-sack seasons and was a prominent voice in the locker room under Brian Flores? Is he even ready to go for the start of the season!?

Ogbah didn’t mince words when asked that same question back in November.

“The sky is the limit for me. Like I said, I’ve always been ready, I’ve always stayed ready. I’m just waiting on the opportunity.”
