OMG! New York Mets Shortstop Jose Iglesias Lists His $7.6M Miami Home

Multitalented baseball player and singer Jose Iglesias is selling his home in Miami.

The New York Mets shortstop has captivated teammates and fans with his pop single “OMG,” coinciding with a recent turnaround in the vibes emanating from Citi Field. When not starring on the diamond, Iglesias goes by Candelita while wielding a mic.

Whatever you want to call him, his 3,891-square-foot home is now on the market for $7.6 million. The modern-style abode was built in 2018.

“It’s an amazing home,” says listing agent Susy Dunand, noting that Iglesias put his own finishing touches on the place.

He added a rooftop barbecue lounge area, “which makes it amazing,” she adds. “It has great views of the bay and the ocean breeze, so it’s a fun house and really ideal for entertainment.”

The home has a sleek design.

The rooftop deck area measures in at a massive 1,200 square feet.

“They entertain a lot, so he put a lot of effort into that rooftop,” Dunand says. “They host lots of friends and family there when he’s not playing baseball. It’s private, and they just love it.”

Iglesias used the home as a full-time residence, but recently his family has spent less time in Miami in favor of a more rural, 100-acre spread northwest of the city.

“They have another home in Florida that they are enjoying more and the kids are, too,” Dunand explains. “The kids just love the farm. They spent so much time there that [Jose Iglesias] told me, ‘Susy, I didn’t spend a whole six weeks in my offseason at this house. I am at the farm.’”

Hence, the decision to part with his luxurious residence in the Keystone Islands neighborhood.

There’s plenty of outdoor space.

Dunand has known the family for many years and has sold them several homes, including this one. She says it took some time for them to finally find this five-bedroom house.

“We were looking for a very special house,” she recalls. “He doesn’t like huge homes. He likes to have houses where they can feel homey with the kids and not in these 20,000-square-foot homes.”

But she notes that Iglesias did have one space requirement: He wanted enough room for a boat, and this property has that.

It “fit all the criteria,” she says. “It took us a while, and it was a good find at the end of the day.”

There’s direct access to Biscayne Bay with 75 feet of waterfront, a pool, and low-maintenance grounds.

“It’s ready to go and is turnkey and immaculate,” Dunand says. “Every corner of this house is meticulously done. Most of the of the grasses are artificial turf, so it will be green all year round. It’s a house that you can actually just close up, leave, and not worry about anything else.”

The broad front door is a striking design feature.

And in area known for its bug population, this house comes with a solution for keeping mosquitoes at bay.

“It’s a system that goes under underground, and there are little holes that are attached to all the trees and vines and shrubs, and it releases a very fine mist every so often,” Dunand explains. “It is very faint but quite effective for the mosquitoes. You can do all the outdoor activities without being affected by mosquitoes.”

But of all of the home’s upscale features, Dunand says one of her favorites is the front door.

“I’m obsessed with the big, heavy door,” she reveals. “It’s like the welcoming of the house. When you’re inside, you feel protected; and when you’re outside, you wonder what is behind the door.”
