Four-star WR Daylyn Upshaw commits to Miami Hurricanes

Phenix City (Ala.) Central On3 Industry four-star receiver Daylyn Upshaw announced his commitment to Miami on Saturday.

The 6-foot, 170-pound Upshaw took multiple visits to Coral Gables including his official the weekend of June 7. Future position coach Kevin Beard was the lead recruiter.

Upshaw becomes commit No. 18 in the 2025 cycle for head coach Mario Cristobal and his staff, adding to a haul that the On3 Industry ranked No. 12 coming into the day.

“The consistency from the coaching staff,” Upshaw said of his commitment. “The environment and vibe I got when I was down down there.

“It was a natural fit.”

A look at what Upshaw brings to Miami

Upshaw is a good fit for any program. As a junior the playmaking wide out turned 59 receptions into 1,185 yards and 15 touchdowns, averaging over 20 yards per catch.

He also shined in the spring on the 7v7 circuit playing for The 24K Organization.

“Just his athleticism and his ability and way he approaches the game,” 24K coach and private trainer Kevin Wheeler said.

“His upside is very good. He has all the tools. Good height, good size, speed, hands, good hips, everything. He has a high ceiling. A lot of raw ability. With the right training and coaching he can definitely grow into somebody that has a bright future in the game.”

Hurricanes pushing for another Top 10 class

Cristobal is hoping the future is bright with more players like Upshaw.

He joins a class that has fellow On3 Industry four-stars in quarterback Luke Nickel, safeties Hylton Stubbs and Amari Wallace, cornerback Chris Ewald, offensive linemen SJ Alofaituli and Max Buchanan, linebackers Gavin Nix and Elijah Melendez, tight ends Brock Schott and Luka Gilbert and edge rusher Herbert Scroggins.

Major targets for Miami as the cycle continues are highlighted by On3 Industry five-stars in cornerback DJ Pickett, defensive lineman Iose Epenesa and receiver Jaime Ffrench.

Upshaw is the On3 Industry’s No. 61 receiver. On3 slots him No. 60. He also had offers from Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Missouri, Texas, Tennessee, Ole Miss and Penn State among others.

Miami signed On3’s No. 5 class in 2024 after finishing No. 8 in 2023.
