Miami mayor to host multi-agency boating safety symposium amid rising accidents


MIAMI – In response to a recent surge in boating accidents, Miami Mayor Francis Suarez will lead a multi-agency boating safety symposium to educate the community on essential water safety practices.

The 4-hour event will take place at Miami City Hall starting at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The symposium, presented by Miami Fire Rescue, Miami Police Department, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and the U.S. Coast Guard, will provide important boating information and interactive workshops to help with safety awareness.

According to the symposium’s website, key topics will include “necessary checklists, mandatory boating equipment, marine rules of the road, and boating laws.”

The session will also offer first aid training, CPR demonstrations, live fire extinguisher props and radio communications exercises.

According to organizers, this educational event aims to enhance boating safety awareness and prevent future accidents.
