Majority of Miami Valley considered ‘abnormally dry’

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — If you think it has been dry around the Miami Valley, you aren’t alone.

The U.S. Drought Monitor displays all counties in the Miami Valley are considered “abnormally dry,” according to data released June 20. In the Miami Valley, the central, northern and eastern portions of Logan County were not classified as being in the dryness.

The report said abnormal dryness can impact crops by stunting their growth. Stock pond levels can also see a decline, according to the group.

Over the weekend, the Miami Valley received showers which may impact the results. An updated map will likely be released in the next few days.
