Miami lands 3rd OL commit of 2025 class in Jaden Wilkerson
CaneSport Recruiting Minute: Jaden Wilkerson
Miami landed its ninth commitment of the season Wednesday night when 6-foot-5.5, 330-pound offensive tackle Jaden Wilkerson announced his pledge to the Hurricanes, becoming Miami’s third offensive line commit in the 2025 class and second offensive line pledge in the last two days.
Wilkerson, a three-star prospect from Orlando (Fla.) Edgewater, chose the Hurricanes over UCF, Syracuse and Rutgers, the last two of which he official visited this month. He also took an official visit to Miami May 31, but he didn’t feel ready to pull the trigger until this week.
Wilkerson plans to fully shut down his recruitment and will not entertain other schools.
“Coach (Alex Mirabal), my position coach, he was a really big part of why I committed (to Miami),” Wilkerson told CaneSport. “Coach (Mario) Cristobal as well, being an O-line guy himself, and I just felt the love from Day One. When I went up there for the first time and I wasn’t even offered and I wasn’t even being really recruited at that point, I was getting love from a lot of position coaches even though they didn’t know who I was. When I finally got offered, I knew they were going to be at the top of my board for a while.”
Wilkerson said he was debating between Miami and Rutgers until Monday evening when he chose the Hurricanes. He said a phone call with Mirabal on Monday sealed the deal, although he was strongly leaning toward the Hurricanes on his official visit.
“They said they liked how hard of a worker I was and I was really athletic and I’m a big guy that can move,” Wilkerson said. “They’re proud of recruiting and getting big guys who can move and are hard workers off the field.”
Miami’s staff told him they view him as a versatile lineman capable of being trained to play multiple positions, although Wilkerson doesn’t have a specific preference.
He’s plenty excited to join his new team.
“I feel great!” Wilkerson said. “I feel like I made the right decision. I’m ready to bring The U back to what it used to be!”
CaneSport’s Take
Wilkerson was a prospect Miami grew higher on as spring continued and eventually turned into a recruiting priority, and if he has the senior season many of us believe he’ll have, he could see his On3 ranking continue to climb. He looks to be another solid pickup for the Hurricanes’ offensive line room.
