Inter Miami, playing without stars Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, found themselves tied 1-1 and reduced to nine men after David Ruiz and Tomas Aviles received two yellow cards each.

As the match approached its conclusion, it appeared that Miami would have to settle for a draw and head home with a single point.

However, in a dramatic twist, stoppage-time substitute Leo Afonso took a daring shot in the 94th minute, finding the back of the net for the winning goal.



“Nine times out of 10 we lose that game,” the Inter Miami coach said. “It took effort and character to get that win despite our mistakes.”

This victory not only secured three vital points for Inter Miami but also maintained their position at the top of the MLS Eastern Conference and the Supporters’ Shield race, with 38 points from 11 wins, three losses, and five ties.
