Miami football summer offensive enrollee expectations
Offensive tackle Juan Minaya, running back Jordan Lyle and wide receiver Chance Robinson have varying expectations during their true freshmen seasons as the only summer enrollees on offense for the Miami football team. Miami signed an elite group of skill position players on offense in the 2024 class.
Lyle and Robinson are two out of the five four-star signees at skill positions in the 2024 class. Tight end Elija Lofton and wide receivers Ny Carr and Joshisa Trader enrolled in January and participated in spring practice. Lofton and Trader shined for Miami this spring and project to earn significant snaps as true freshmen.
Miami sideline announcer Josh Darrow posted to X on Saturday that one of the Hurricanes staff members told him that Lyle is a player to watch in 2024. Lyle will have to compete to be the fourth RB in the 2024 Miami rotation. Oregon State transfer Damien Martinez and sophomore returnee Mark Fletcher project as the top two 2024 Miami RBs.
Redshirt sophomore Ajay Allen will likely be the third RB for Miami in 2024. Redshirt freshman Chris Johnson and Lyle will compete for carries in 2024. Lyle will have to be adept as a blocker to live up to his billing as a player to watch in 2024.
Robinson comes in behind Carr and Trader after they participated in spring practice. Trader was impressive this spring and seems to be in line as the fifth receiver for Miami in 2024. Miami returns 2023 leading receivers Xavier Restrepo and Jacolby George and added Houston WR Sam Brown.
Isaiah Horton returns as the projected fourth receiver in the rotation in 2024. Carr, Robinson and redshirt freshman Robby Washington will compete for snaps and targets as an outside receiver in the Miami rotation. Miami has an excellent foundation at WR for the next few years with the 2024 class.
Mario Cristobal called Minaya a mauler when he signed in December. At 6’6 and 335 pounds, Minaya provides a physical presence on the OL. Expect Minaya to redshirt in 2024. Miami had seven offensive players enroll in January and compete in spring practice. The offensive players in the 2024 class can be special.
