Miami football named top 10 team nationally generating most off-season buzz

Carter Bahns of 247Sports named the Miami football program one of his “College football teams generating most off-season buzz…” entering the 2024 season. Miami is the only ACC team on Bahn’s list. Bahns singled out Ohio State and Oregon above everyone else calling them dangerous squads.

Miami created a buzz during the off-season primarily because of their activity in the transfer portal. The Hurricanes lost 28 transfers to the portal and signed 15 to join their 27-man recruiting class. Six of the 15 transfer additions for Miami were during the spring transfer portal window.

Miami signed the fourth-ranked recruiting class and 10th transfer class. The talent on the roster has been slightly upgraded over the past few years. Miami has to live up to the projections and offseason buzz entering the third season of the Cristobal era.

Bahns stated quarterback Cam Ward could be the most impactful transfer in the nation in 2024 and that Damien Martinez projects as one of the top running backs in college football. Bahns expects Miami to have a pass-heavy system. With Martinez and Ward and Mario Cristobal as head coach, expect a more balanced offense.

The consensus is that Miami has a favorable 2024 schedule. Miami avoids Clemson in 2024. Games at Louisville on October 19 and versus Florida State on October 26 will be the most critical in determining the outcome of the 2024 Miami season. If Miami can split versus FSU and Louisville they will be a serious contender for an ACC Championship game berth.

There will be a lot of scrutiny to begin the season at Florida on August 31. Billy Napier and Cristobal have each received a lot of criticism for losing records in their first two seasons. Miami needs a win over Florida to continue its offseason momentum. The offseason buzz will lose some of its luster with a loss to Florida.
