ISP investigating death of 23-year-old Miami Correctional Facility inmate

MIAMI COUNTY, Ind. (WPTA) – The death of a Miami Correctional Facility inmate is now under investigation by the Indiana State Police (ISP), detectives announced on Tuesday.

ISP detectives at the Peru Post say they were contacted by state prison leaders just before 2 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28, to investigate the death of 23-year-old David. R. Eggert.

Police say the Miami County Coroner’s Office and Miami Correctional Facility investigators are assisting in the case. At this time, an autopsy to determine Eggert’s exact cause of death is pending.

Detectives say the man’s family has been notified and the incident remains under investigation.
